Second Langkai Festival kicks off at Langkai Langso in Karbi Anglong

Diphu: The 2nd Langkai Festival kicked off at Langkai Langso in Karbi Anglong. The CEM of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang attended as chief guest.

In his speech he said that Langkaijan was one of the most underdeveloped areas in Karbi Anglong and the area needed proper roads, potable drinking water facilities, education and healthcare. He said that he sanctioned 100 RCC ring wells last year for the entire area out of which 80 RCC ring wells had been completed.

He assured black topping of roads, building permanent structure of open stage and community hall and issuing land pattas to the adjoining villages soon. He was accompanied by MP were Horensing Bey and EMs Rupsing Teron and Kache Rongpipi.

CEM Ronghang also said that the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council had not accepted CAA and therefore, hill districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao district which are under the Sixth Schedule, have been kept out of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.
