Section 144 promulgated in Dibrugarh district

DIBRUGARH: In the interest to ensure peace and social harmony, to protect life and properties of general people and to avoid any untoward incidents in Dibrugarh, the District Magistrate, Biswajeet Pegu promulgated section 144 under Cr PC here prohibited the collection of any form of donation by any individual or organization, extortion by threat or force on the roadside or from any organization in the district.

The order remains in force in the district till the next order is issued. Violation of the order in any form is punishable under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
