DOOMDOOMA: The education that teachers can give to their students is the real education. Academician Dr Alok Kumar Buragohain said this and urged the teachers to take the new education policy as a challenge while speaking at a seminar on ‘Trends in Higher Education in the context of NEP-2020 in Assam’ organized by Doomdooma College and Bir Raghav Moran Government Model (BRMGM) College in collaboration with Girijananda Chowdhury University in the conference hall of Doomdooma College on Monday.

“It is important to understand the importance of teaching students. The New Education Policy - 2020 takes special challenges in this regard and takes measures to keep pace with the times. Therefore, it must be taken as a challenge,” said Dr Alok Kumar Buragohain, former Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University and current Chancellor of Girijananda Chowdhury University. He gave an objective analysis of the Radhakrishnan Education Commission of 1948, the Kothari Commission of 1968, the Rajiv Gandhi Semester System of 1986 and described such education as a natural disaster. He said the 5+3+3+4 policy will take time to remove the shortcomings of the new education policy and it will be completed by 2040.

The discussion was attended by Dr Amarjit Shaikia, Principal, Bir Raghav Moran Government Model College. After the seminar, Doomdooma College and Bir Raghav Moran Government Model College signed separate Memoranda of Understanding with Girijananda Chowdhury University.
