JAMUGURIHAT: A seminar on implementation of NEP 2020 was held on Friday at Tyagbir Hem Baruah College under the initiative of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). Anchoring the programme Sumanta Rajbanshi, Coordinator, IQAC said that although NEP 2020 has been launched for implementation in the higher education institutions of the state, many people are still shrouded in a mist of confusion regarding the structure and contents of the new undergraduate curriculum which is going to be introduced from the academic session 2023-24.

With a view to providing orientation to the teaching faculty of the college towards various aspects and dimensions of the new curriculum of the Gauhati University, the seminar was convened. Inaugurating the programme, Dr Ajit Hazarika, principal of the college said that in addition to offering of quality education, the college fraternity has put sincere efforts to engage students in skill based activities and such a practice would help the college to work in the line of the NEP 2020. Acting as resource person Professor Ratul Mahanta, Academic Registrar, Gauhati University deliberated in detail on the new undergraduate curriculum of the Gauhati University.

He said that it is the simplest of all curricula previously implemented and once introduced neither teachers nor students would find any difficulty in following it. He said that the new policy is expected to usher in a new era in the field of Indian education. Professor Bhaben Tanti, HoD, Botany and Director, IQAC, Gauhati University also spoke on the occasion. Deliberating on the preparations for assessment and accreditation by NAAC Professor Tanti said that attempts of an institution to elevate itself to the next level of development never stops and the teaching faculty and the administration should be always focused on giving their best performance for benefits of the students and the community. He called upon all to make the best application of their innovative ideas and expertise and extend their service to the unexplored areas of our socio- cultural life. Dr. Nava Jyoti Hazarika, HoD, Mathematics wrapped up the seminar with his concluding remarks and vote of thanks.
