JAMUGURIHAT: A seminar on the topic 'Regional Languages in the context of Globalization' organised by the Department of Assamese, THB college was held in the conference hall of the college on Wednesday with Khanjan Kumar Das, the head of the department in the chair.
Senior project officer of Language Studies, Prabin Kakati graced the seminar as a resource person. The seminar was organised with an aim to support the first semester undergraduate students of Gauhati University and how new media and globalization have influenced the promotion of Assamese language among students.
He also highlighted on how the language has been developed and how the students can get directly involved in it. He added that some of the students even learned how to apply themselves to the growing new media in the context of globalization, take up translation and DTP, spelling correction etc. as professions and establish their language in line with globalization by getting involved in various language related projects.
He further explained different necessary aspects of the Assamese language to the students and encouraged them to get involved. The seminar was inaugurated by the principal of the college, Dr. Ajit Hazarika which was attended by senior professors of several departments of the college and students of the college.
