Senior Advocate and Author Imad Uddin Bulbul Passes Away at 75

Senior advocate and noted litterateur Imad Uddin Bulbul died on Friday night following a massive cardiac attack. Bulbul, 75, left behind his wife, two sons and a daughter.

Silchar: Senior advocate and noted litterateur Imad Uddin Bulbul died on Friday night following a massive cardiac attack. Bulbul, 75, left behind his wife, two sons and a daughter. His mortal remains were cremated at his ancestral village in Katigorah after the ‘janaja namaz’ or the funeral prayers were performed at his Silchar Rongpur residence. 

Imad Uddin Bulbul was actively associated with the 1972 language movement. He was one of the vice presidents of the Barak Upatyaka Banga Sahitya Samskriti Sammelon. 

Bulbul, as he was popularly known, completed his post graduation in economics from Gauhati University. He did a diploma course in journalism from Gauhati University and won a gold medal. In his initial days, Bulbul was associated with left politics and he was jailed for one night during the Emergency. He joined the Silchar Bar Library in 1984 and last year completed 40 years in the legal profession. 

Imad Uddin authored a number of books, mainly of essays, including a novel.
