Senior citizens of Demow Protest against Citizenship Amendment Act

DEMOW: The senior citizens of Demow and its surrounding areas staged a sit-in against the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 from 11 am to 2 pm in Demow Public Playground on Monday.

The protest was organized by All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and 30 ethnic organizations in Demow. The senior citizens of Demow and its surrounding areas held placards in their hands and shouted various slogans against the government. One of the protesters said, “We cannot accept CAA. We should protest in a peaceful manner and public property should not be destroyed.” “We will protest till the CAA is scrapped,” said another senior citizen present in the protest programme. On the other hand, near the Demow ASTC bus stand the people of the area also staged sit-in and demanded that the CAA should be scrapped and KMSS leaders should be released.
