BOKAJAN: In a shocking incident, a sexagenarian in Bokajan was administered two doses of anti-COVID vaccine within minutes on Saturday. The incident took place at the Balipathat MPHC here.

According to reports, the sexagenarian — Horumai Saikia, a resident of Deopani — had gone there to receive her first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. After receiving her first dose of vaccine, she was kept seated on the inoculating chair when another nurse at the camp administered a second dose of vaccine without being aware that the lady had received the first dose of the vax just a couple of minutes back.

The grandson of the lady who was watching his grandmother from outside the window of the vaccination centre tried to stop the nurse. However by the time, the nurse had already administered the second dose of vaccine into her.

Meanwhile, the grandson of the lady who accompanied her to the vaccination centre have alleged negligence on the part of the MPHC authorities in this matter.

The senior citizen is currently stable and under observation at the health centre.
