SIVASAGAR: The newly-appointed Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar, Megha Nidhi Dahal, in a meeting held at the Syukafa conference hall of the DC's office, with the officials of the Public Health Engineering Department, reviewed the progress of the pure drinking water house connection scheme under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed fast and effective implementation of the home connection scheme of pure drinking water under one of the most important flagship programmes of the Central Government - Jal Jeevan Mission. He asked for arrangement of pure drinking water tape connection to the Anganwadi centres of the district as well as primary schools which do not have water supply. He also focused on the supply of pure drinking water to the tea garden areas under Jal Jeevan Mission.

Taking details of the progress of the scheme in the district, he asked the departmental officials to inform him about the difficulties and problems faced in the implementation of the scheme so that these issues could be resolved quickly. He advised to maintain necessary coordination with departments concerned for successful implementation of the schemes.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that the district administration would keep a sharp eye on the work of the schemes being implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He also said that reviews would continue from time to time regarding the progress of the schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission.

Notably, 6,022 schemes have been completed in the district by achieving more than 100 per cent success against the target of 6,001 drinking water tape connectivity set last August, informed Dahal.

Additional Commissioner Karmadev Brahma, Executive Engineer of Public Health Engineering Department Dilip Shyam, Assistant Commissioner Deepawoli Kurmi and departmental officers were also present in the meeting.
