Sivasagar district administration maintaining strict vigilance ahead of bye-polls
In view of the ensuing bye-election to 107- Thowra Legislative Assembly Constituency, Sivasagar district administration is maintaining a strict vigilance against violation of Model Code of Conduct and COVID protocol in the election district.

GAURISAGAR/DEMOW: In view of the ensuing bye-election to 107- Thowra Legislative Assembly Constituency, Sivasagar district administration is maintaining a strict vigilance against violation of Model Code of Conduct and COVID protocol in the election district. In a recent move, the Circle Officer of Demow Revenue Circle and Constituency Magistrate of 107- Thowra LAC Phyllis VLH Hrangchal informed the police that on October 25, the party workers of Raijor Dal violated Model Code of Conduct by gathering at Raichai Playgroung for carrying out bike rally without obtaining permission and prior information to the district administration.
She requested the police to take necessary action in this regard. Earlier, the district administration issued showcause notice to BJP candidate Sushanta Borgohain for taking out a procession prior to filing nomination violating ECI instruction issued by Press Note (vide no. ECI/PN/83/2021, dated 28-09-2021) as well as COVID protocol.
In another earlier move, the district administration issued show cause notice to Independent candidate Dhaijya Konwar for taking out a bike rally and a road show violating ECI instruction issued by Press Note (vide no. ECI/PN/83/2021, dated 28-09-2021) as well as bye-election COVID protocol.Thereafter, the Model Code of Conduct Cell of Bye-Election to 107-Thowra LAC issued a written warning to both the contesting candidates.
