SIVASAGAR: The Office of the District Commissioner, Sivasagar, issued a show cause notice to M/S Sologuri GPSS Ltd over alleged anomalies in the distribution and documentation of Government-allotted Mid-Day Meal (MDM) rice. According to official sources, the action follows a verification report dated March 19, 2025, submitted by Arupjyoti Das, Inspector of Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Sivasagar. The report pointed to multiple irregularities committed by the GPSS Ltd, a licensed dealer under the Assam Public Distribution of Articles Order, 1982. The alleged violations include anomalies and discrepancies in bills and annual progress reports (APRs) related to MDM rice supply for Upper Primary, Lower Primary, and Ka-Shreni schools during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters of 2024-25, as well as irregularities in the actual distribution of the allotted rice. The GPSS Ltd has been directed to submit a written reply within seven days of receiving the notice, warning of possible suspension of the firm’s retail licence if the explanation is unsatisfactory.
