DIBRUGARH: Police arrested 6 persons from places under different police stations in the district for writing fake FIRs on behalf of complainants. Police alleged that these arrested fake complaint writers lodged complaints on behalf of their clients with allegations that not only created a number of problems in the investigation but also misled the police in solving some critical cases. Additional Superintendent of police, Bitul Chetia disclosed that the arrested six fake complaint writers are Krishna Saikia under Dibrugarh Police Station, Ananda Dutta from Joypur P.S, Zakir Hussain, Ratan Gogoi and Krishna Sahu and Jitu Rahman from Khowang, Borboruah and Tengakhat police stations respectively.

Chetia further stated that the police initially picked up 12 persons for interrogation and after a detailed investigation arrested 6 of them for copying fake FIRs with incorrect and false complaints. As a result of such false FIRs, the number of cases registered in the respective police stations remains unsolved or cannot submit effective charge sheets on time. Addl. Police Superintendent, Chetia said, those who do not know how to write an FIR, the concerned police officer of the police station help the complainant in writing their FIRs or direct a subordinate officer to do the same.
