LAKHIMPUR: Police from Silonibari Police Outpost of Lakhimpur district seized seven smuggled cattle on Tuesday night. The cattle were seized along the Dezoo-Kimin Road near Silonibari Police Outpost.

In this connection, police arrested one person who has been identified as Muhammad Ibrahim Ali (40), son of Mohammad Yousuf Ali, resident of Mohghuli village under North Lakhimpur Police Station. At that time, Ibrahim was taking the cattle to Arunachal Pradesh by boarding them in a Bolero van bearing registration number AS 07 BC 3500. A case was registered against him vide No. 1222/2021 U/S 379, 412 IPC R/W 11(d) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 and R/W Section 7 of the Assam Cattle Preservation Act, 2021. Meanwhile, he has been forwarded to judicial custody.
