Smuggled goods worth ₹5 crore seized from bus in Silchar; three arrested

SILCHAR: Cachar Police on Friday recovered a huge quantity of smuggled substances worth Rs 5 crore from a bus at Ramnagar bypass. The bus was coming from Manipur via Mizoram. The consignment included Burmese cigarettes, mosquito repellents, and narcotic substances. The police arrested three peddlers from the bus. They were identified as Saidul Rahman, Nasir Khan, and Kamtiangsang. SP Numal Mahatta said that the police had prior input that in a passenger bus originating in Manipur and coming towards Silchar via Mizoram, a huge quantity of drugs was being smuggled. A special police team started chasing the bus from Lailapur at the Mizoram border as soon as the bus entered Cachar, and finally the vehicle was stopped at Ramnagar bypass.
