KOKRAJHAR: Theft cases have been rising in Kokrajhar town since August 1. There have been reports of thefts at various wards of Kokrajhar town almost daily, causing concern for the citizens.

On the midnight of August 1, thieves entered the houses of three families including the house of the Gaonbura at Dublibari (South Tengapara) and stole mobile handsets and other household materials. The next night, the thieves stole mobile handsets and other belongings of football players of the ITBP team at Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) indoor stadium, who were practicing at the KDSA playground.

Apart from these, thieves entered the house of noted film actor Riya Brahma at Rupathi Nwgwr on the night of August 3, and took away some materials, and on Monday night, thieves broke the door and entered a tea stall at Pagla Baba temple and took away coins and sweets. Reportedly, thieves also made an attempt to enter the Agarbatti Enterprise attached to it, which is owned by Maneswar Daimary, ex-Advisor of the ABSU and present Advisor of the Tourism department of BTC, but failed.
