LAKHIMPUR: "Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev integrated the greater Assamese society with the bond of unity and ideology of equality 500 years ago. He paved the way for spiritual transformation of every individual with a realistic philosophy. A revolution with the scientific study of his philosophy is the need of hour to spread his noble ideology in the upcoming generation," stated Ranjit Kakati in Lakhimpur on Friday.

The spiritual speaker-cum-writer and journalist said this while taking part in a symposium of a 'Dharmalosana Sabha' organized at Madhya Telahi Sankari Kala-Kristi Bikash Kendra located at Kalita Gaon under Telahi Development Block on the occasion of the celebration of 573rd birth anniversary of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev.

The symposium was organized on a topic 'The problems of spreading Neo-Vaishnavite Religion of Srimanta Sankardev and the ways of their resolve'. Another spiritual speaker-cum-teacher Indrajeet Kakati also took part in the symposium as resource person. In his lecture, Indrajeet Kakati explained the history of neo-Vaishnavite movement in India and Assam, Sankardev's purpose of preaching the religion in a simplified way for the common people and problems and prospects with regard to spreading the ideology of the same. On the other hand, Ranjit Kakati explained the psychological aspects of Sankardev's philosophy about which no scientific study has been conducted yet.

The symposium commenced with Agni Phoolbari Xatra Deka Xatradhikar Bitu Kumar Goswami in the chair. It was inaugurated by Babul Chandra Barhoi, professor of English Department of OPD College. Eight emerging youths with a good academic career— Ranjan Khaond, Jinku Borah, Rupjyoti Saikia, Usharani Nath, Subhash Saikia, Bikash Nath, Sabita Hazarika and Dikshita Borah also expressed their views on the topic participating in the symposium as co-resource persons. Interactive session of the symposium was held under the management of advocate Dwijen Borah.

Notably, the 573rd birth anniversary of 'Jagat Guru' Srimanta Sankardeva is being celebrated at Madhya Telahi Sankari Kala-Kristi Bikash Kendra with a three-day-long programme from October 14 to October 16 to commemorate the tremendous contribution of the luminous spiritual icon with multifaceted genius. On October 14 (Thursday), the agenda of the event began with the unfurling of Dharmadwajja by Manik Borah, the president of the executive committee. It was followed by sports, literature and cultural competitions on the contribution of Srimanta Sankardev. In the evening, nam-prasanga and Bisoy Basoni Sabha was held. On Friday, recitation of Guru Charit, Kirtan, Nam-Ghosa and nam-prasanga was held in addition to the symposium. The female devotees will present Diha-Nam on Saturday.
