RANGIA: On the eve of World Environment Day, Sector Headquarter of SSB Rangia organized a tree plantation drive at St Joseph Public School, Baihata Charaili on Friday.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of Jagdeep Pal Singh, Deputy Inspector General, Sector HQR SSB Rangia. Every year during the rainy season, SSB conducts plantation drives in its camps and surrounding areas and last year the target of Sector HQR of planting 3,000 saplings was successfully achieved by planting fruit-bearing plants by involving local government agencies, NGOs, schools and hospitals. For the year 2022, Sector HQR has been given the target of planting 2,000 saplings. Sector HQR SSB Rangia has four units under its command in the districts of Chirang, Baksa , Tamulpur and Udalguri. The plantation drives are being carried out in all its border outposts and surrounding areas. All four units each have the target of planting 12,000 saplings for the year 2022.

This year the plantation drive was formally inaugurated by Jagdeep Pal Singh, Deputy Inspector General, Sector HQR SSB Rangia by planting the first sapling at St Joseph Public School. During the plantation drive-cum-awareness camp at St. Joseph Public School, DIG SSB Rangia interacted with students and expressed his happiness at the enthusiasm exhibited by the students, parents, faculties and local residents for their active participation in the plantation drive. Father Edwin Simethy, Principal, St. Joseph Public School, appreciated the efforts of SSB in generating general awareness and involving school children in the drive.
