TANGLA: The high-speeding overloaded dumpers plying in Mangaldai-Bhutiachang SH-4 carrying construction materials, of late, have started unleashing a huge havoc giving nightmare to the people of Udalguri-Tamulpur and Mangaldai-Bhutiachang roads. The overloaded dumpers carrying stones and sand have claimed many lives of pedestrians and bikers. What adds to the woes of the public is neither the police, transport department nor the forest officials intervene to ascertain the validity of stones and sands.

In yet another stance, a major road accident was reported where a biker and a pillion rider were critically injured by a speeding dumper (AS12BC4191) at Panchali under Dimakuchi PS in Udalguri district on Wednesday evening. The rider Amir Khan (26) and Anar Ali (28) were critically injured and were referred to GMCH where Anar Ali succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. However, the victim's next kin didn't file any FIR till the filing of this report nor did the police file any suo-moto FIR in this regard raising questions on the transparency of investigation.

Dimakuchi PS Officer-in-Charge, Upen Barman said, "We have arrested the driver of the vehicle and enlarged him on bail as per due procedure established by law." "However the vehicle owner didn't submit the documents of the dumper till date which was loaded with stone. If the family members of the victim don't lodge any complaint then we will file suo-moto FIR on the incident," he added.
