Store food grains to avoid crisis, Minister Phani Bhushan Choudhury instructs Kokrajhar district administration

Kokrajhar: State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Phani Bhushan Choudhury on Thursday visited Kokrajhar and held a review meeting with Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) administration, district administration, officials of various departments and local traders, and took stock of the foodstuff available during the ongoing nationwide lockdown.

The minister asked the officials of his department and district administration to put emphasis on storage of food grains and other essential items to avoid crisis at least for one month in the district.

Later talking to reporters, the minister said necessary arrangement had been made so that there was sufficient stock of foodstuff for at least one month to deal with the lockdown period. He also said that necessary action and FIR had been lodged against those involved in the embezzlement of ration during the lockdown. On traders selling essential commodities at higher prices, Choudhury said the government had taken measures to check the malpractices by traders. He also said action would be taken against the erring traders who were selling essential items on high rate. BTC Principal Secretary Robinson Mushahary, ADC Debeswar Bora, senior officials from Food and Civil Supplies and members from Chamber of Commerce were also present in the meeting.
