Stress laid on moulding students as per talent and temperament in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Maria’s Children Academy at Panigaon in Lakhimpur observed its 10th foundation day on Sunday in a befitting manner.

On this occasion, a special programme was organized in the school auditorium under the management of Pavanjyoti Borah, the director of the school. The programme began with a chorus presented by the academic staff of the school while headmistress Mitali Borah Saikia delivered the welcome address.

Writer and academician Lakhi Borah, OC of Panigaon Police Station, Jayanta Deka, writer-journalists Ranjit Kakati and Sanjib Borah and teacher Biren Das graced the occasion as the guests of honour. Lakhi Borah laid stress on enhancing wisdom for all-round development of society. Speaking on the occasion, the other speakers also laid emphasis on moulding the students as per their talent and temperament without any kind of undue pressure by providing them character-building education.

Teacher Tulika Baruah and student Debashish Hazarika presented a modern song in the programme while student Bohnishikha performed a dance item.

On the other hand, the annual cultural and sports week of the school also started on Sunday. The agenda of the week-long event kicked off with the unfurling of school flag by director Pavanjyoti Borah in the morning. Veteran athlete of Lakhimpur, Dharmeswar Sonowal inaugurated the event by unfurling the school week flag. Senior journalist and North Lakhimpur Press Club working president Kumud Boruah and Telahi Kamalaboria Krira Sajagata Santha president Paresh Phukan delivered encouraging speeches.

In connection with the event, a ‘Run for Sport Awareness’ was taken out in Panigaon area with the participation of the students, teachers, sport personalities, parents and guardians of the students and the local people.
