PATHSALA: "The BJP-led alliance government will take strict action against those fair price shops which violates the norms of distribution of materials," said Food & Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Ranjit Kumar Das at Patacharkuchi.

Ranjit Kumar Das said, "There are 34,569 fair price shops in the State and among them 900 shops have no ration cards. In the period from April to June, 3.11 crore litres of kerosene oil have been released for the people but the kerosene oil has not reached the consumers properly. Black marketing should be totally stopped."

Citing the example of one Ragini Oil Traders, he said that the government had already cancelled the license due to illegal stocking of kerosene oil recently. "The beneficiaries of free rice will now get the sanctioned quantity of rice as the government has decided to increase the transportation charge to fair price shops from Rs 110 to Rs 143 per quintal. To reform the department, the government has decided to transfer the inspectors of the department and those who fail to join by July 8, strict action will be taken against them," he added. Dass also sought cooperation from the public for streamlining the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the State.
