NAGAON: The Guardian Minister of the Nagaon district, Pijush Hazarika expressed his concern over prevailing drugs menace once again in the district while attending a review meeting held at the Nagaon DC's conference hall. While speaking to some local media persons right after the meeting, the minister said that he had already directed the district police administration to take adequate measures to tackle the situation as early as possible. He said he had come to know through some digital media that drugs dealers as well as other small drug sellers had become active once again in various areas of the district.

"The BJP-led State Government has initiated strong steps to check the drug menace and I have already directed the district police administration to take strict action against those involved in drug trade," said minister Hazarika.

Meanwhile, State Finance Minister Ajanta Neog on Wednesday inaugurated a training programme on Orunodoi scheme at the Nagaon district library auditorium. While interacting with some local media persons, Neog said that from now onwards only the eligible beneficiaries would get the benefits under the ongoing scheme being sponsored by the State Government. "Those people who have three- wheelers, four wheelers as well as refrigerators in their houses will not get the benefits of Orunodoi scheme and if anyone among them is getting benefits, his or her name will be dropped soon from the beneficiary list," the minister said.
