'Strong unity inevitable for the formation of larger Bodo nationality'

LAKHIMPUR: "Massive democratic stir came into being in the State from 1987 under the leadership of then ABSU (All Bodo Students' Union) president Upendranath Brahma in order to secure the judicious rights of the Bodo community people. Bodofa Upendramath Brahma dreamt of forming the larger Bodo nationality with their comprehensive development. In order to get the dream come true, strong unity is inevitable among the people the community."

This statement was made by Mihiniswar Basumatari, the president of United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) in Dhemaji. He said so while taking part in a public meeting held at MingmamgNalbari High School under Gogamukh area of Dhemaji district.

The meeting was organized by Dhemaji district unit of UBPO in association with the Gogamukh and Dhemaji regional units of the organization regarding the formation of BodoKachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) covering the Bodo community dominated area outside BTC. The meeting commenced with Dhemaji UBPO president ManoranjanBasumatari in the chair while general secretary DipankarNarzari delivered the welcome address.

Attending the event as chief guest, MihiniswarBasumatari in his speech said that the BJP-led State government had moved forward to constitute the BKWAC as per BTR Accord as a result of massive democratic stirs initiated under the strong leadership of the UBPO being supported by Bodo community people.

"The constitution of proposed BKWAC will pave the way for the comprehensive development of over ten lakh Bodo community people living in 21 districts of Assam outside the BTC area", MihiniswarBasumatari added.

On the other hand, UBPO vice-president RatanBasumatari, attending the event as guest of honour, called upon all to pay importance on forming the interim body of the BKWAC with the competent leaders of the community who had been extending relentless services to the welfare of the native people shouldering the social responsibilities.

"We should pay priority upon the building of the infrastructure for the comprehensive development of people under the BTR", stated RatanBasumatari.
