TEZPUR: Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a nationwide campaign covering 700 districts of India, which was launched on May 29 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, was successfully concluded in Sonitpur district on June 12. The objective of the programme was to reach 1 to 1.5 crore farmers in 700 districts across the country to create awareness about improved agricultural technologies and allied sectors as well as government schemes related to agriculture among the farming community.
In Sonitpur district, this campaign was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur, in collaboration with Assam Agricultural University, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Veterinary, the Department of Fisheries, and Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM).
In this campaign, two groups consisting of the senior scientist and head of KVK, Sonitpur, and other scientists of the KVK, departmental officials from district agriculture, veterinary and fisheries departments, and ASRML went to 56 gram panchayats of the district, covering 10 development blocks and more than 20,000 farmers. Moreover, Sootia, Panibhoral, and Balipukhuri development blocks of Biswanath district were covered under this campaign.
This campaign, which was conducted prior to Kharif (pre-Kharif) cultivation, has been anticipated to bring grand success in the agriculture sector of the district.
