TANGLA: A 16-year old HSLC candidate allegedly died by suicide in Hahinigaon village near Tangla town in Udalguri district on Tuesday evening.

According to reports, when the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) 2022 exam results were declared by SEBA on Tuesday morning, the student failed to pass the examination. The student allegedly jumped in front of a speeding train despite repeated calls by the people present in the area.

However, the cause of the extreme step is yet not clear, whether the exam result or any other reason forced her to end her life. "We have recovered the body of the girl and sent the body for post-mortem to Udalguri Civil Hospital," said a Tangla GRP official. Pertinently, the victim was a promising dancer and model and had participated in a number of fashion shows.

The last rites of the student were performed in the native village on Wednesday. A pall of gloom has descended on the area following the tragic incident. Tangla Media Circle has expressed condolence to the bereaved family members.
