DOOMDOOMA: A summer workshop on drama, mime, and folk art, organized under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Department, Government of Assam, in collaboration with the Tinsukia District Administration, was successfully hosted by ‘Pinaki’ Natyashala from July 7.
The workshop was inaugurated by Rupesh Gowala, Minister of Labour Welfare, Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare, and Home Affairs, Government of Assam.
The closing ceremony took place on Friday at the historic Doomdooma Natya Mandir. Among the distinguished guests were Circle Officer (Attached), Doomdooma Revenue Circle, Bharati Bora; Cultural Development Officer, Doomdooma Co-District, Rashmi Deka; veteran journalist and pensioner Dhiren Deka; President of the Doomdooma Natya Mandir Committee, Jiten Deka; former President of the Doomdooma Satadal Sakha Xahitya Xabha (DSSXX), Bimala Barua; current DSSXX President, Deben Deka; and journalist Abhijit Khataniar.
The event began with a ceremonial lamp-lighting by former DSSXX President Bimala Barua, CO Bharati Bora, and CDO Rashmi Deka. The workshop was led by prominent cultural worker Nayan Deka, who served as one of the main instructors.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Dhiren Deka expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Bora for initiating such cultural programs across the state. “These workshops are helping young people reconnect with art and express their creativity,” he remarked.
