NAHARKATIA: Today, a woman was detained with 11.62 grams of suspected heroin in Amguri village of Sassoni. According to a police source, a team of Sassoni police outpost and Naharkatia police station based on a tipoff and with the help of the VDP of Amguri, Dalamuri and Amguri Nepali villages seized 10 containers full of suspected heroin, 11.62 gm from a half-constructed toilet in the house of Sanjay Khanikar, a resident of Amguri village. House owner Sanjay Khanikar is absconding. His wife Karabi Khanikar has been detained for interrogation, police said.
Meanwhile, the village guard thanked the Officer-in-charge of Naharkatia police station Pranjal Chetia and Sassoni police station for this act and said that in future the police, as well as the VDP, will keep a close watch on such criminal activities. At the time of writing this news, the police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and are interrogating the detained woman in the presence of a woman police constable.
