Tangla family duped of gold worth ₹4 lakh by fake gold cleaners

TANGLA: In a shocking case of deceit, two unidentified youths on a motorcycle allegedly took away gold ornaments worth around Rs 4 lakh from a residence in Tangla town of Udalguri district on Wednesday morning. The incident took place at the residence of Saudi Arabia returned Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Zahid Hussain on Hospital Road, Ward No. 3 of Tangla town. As per the victim’s family, the duo approached the house under the pretext of offering gold cleaning services. Gaining the family’s trust, they were allowed inside, where they tactfully took possession of the gold jewellery and left the premises. The case has sparked concern among locals. The victim’s family lodged a formal complaint at the Tangla Police Station. The local public urged the police to swiftly identify and apprehend the accused.
