Tea workers gherao Dhoedaam TE office near Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: The tea-workers of Dhoedaam and Pabhojan T.Es near Doomdooma lodged their strong protest by gheraoing the garden office for one hour on Saturday for non-fulfilment of their demands. If the management fails to fulfil its 14 point charter of demands, then the workers would be left with no other alternative but to take recourse to drastic agitational steps, they cautioned. Although today's agitational programme was taken under the initiative of the Asam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS), Doomdooma Branch, yet the workers were highly critical of the role played by its leaders. They have become MPs and MLAs by adopting various ways and means, yet the toiling workers have to cry for their rightful dues, they alleged. Meanwhile, the management did not bother to abide by the decisions of a number of conciliations held with the workers before in presence of the top ranking Trade Union leaders thus depriving the workers of their demands. The management was now trying to abolish all other facilities gradually by adopting some anti- labour exploitative policies, they alleged.
