DIBRUGARH: After The Sentinel carried a story on the Phoolbagan Traffic Point (headline- Dibrugarh’s Phoolbagan Traffic Post in dilapidated condition) on June 19, the Dibrugarh District Administration swung into action and dismantled the traffic post.
It was the most confusing traffic junction in Dibrugarh, where Mancotta Road and AT Road met. Motorists often struggled to interpret the traffic signals, leading to frequent confusion.
It has been learnt that the Dibrugarh District Administration will soon construct the traffic post with modern technology.
“I had faced problems at the particular traffic post while driving but after the construction of the new traffic post, the problems will hopefully be resolved,” said Mintu Das, a resident.
“Dibrugarh has been declared as the second capital after Guwahati and if the traffic posts are not upgraded with modern technology, then it looks bad for the city. Phoolbagan and Thanachariali are the main areas of the city. It should be developed with modern technology,” said Ramesh Hazarika, another resident of Dibrugarh.
“With modern technology, AI-based traffic points will be coming up in Dibrugarh. A team from Hyderabad has already visited Dibrugarh and inspected the traffic points,” said an official source.
