SIVASAGAR: A collection box was found broken at the famous Hazrat Ajan Peer Dargah located at Saraguri Chapori in Sivasagar district on Wednesday. An FIR with the Gaurisagar Police has been lodged in this regard. According to police sources, the donation box of the Dargah was found broken and looted on Wednesday morning as the miscreants committed the crime on the night of Tuesday. It is suspected that the miscreants had used a bicycle to commit the theft. Though the quantum of cash missing was under investigation, it is estimated that the amount missing might have been more than a few lakhs as the donation box had not been opened for several years due to dispute between two committees of the Dargah. Police are investigating the incident.
