Three Canna Barca fish recovered; two arrested in Assam's Mangaldai

Both the accused persons confessed to have illegally caught these three rare fish species from ONPTR and were proceeding to Guwahati to sell them in a higher price.

Mangaldai: Mangaldai Police during their routine checking on Thursday evening near Ward No 2 on NH 15, recovered three Canna Barca (Garka Cheng) fish from a Bolero vehicle bearing registration AS 13 M 2678 and apprehended two persons, namely Abdul Rashid of Badlichar adjacent to Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve (ONPTR) and Rafikul Islam of Batabari, both under Dalgaon Police Station. Both the accused persons confessed to have illegally caught these three rare fish species from ONPTR and were proceeding to Guwahati to sell them in a higher price. The police have handed over both the accused persons and the recovered fish to Mangaldai Wildlife Division.
