Three-day long training on post-harvest machinery organized in Morigaon

Morigaon: A three-day long training of trainers on post-harvest machineries was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Morigaon in collaboration with International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) under the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) from 27 – to 29 January. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Suryakant Khandai, Associate Scientist (IRRI) and Saurav Barua, Subject Matter Specialist, KVK Morigaon.

Dr. Kasturi Goswami from IRRI attended the training as resource person and enlightened the farmers and extension functionaries of District Agricultural Office, Morigaon with the newly introduced machineries for paddy cultivation like paddy transplanter, seed cum fertilizer drill, reaper, combine harvester, solar bubble drier and portable rice mill. A hand on training of these machineries was also given to the farmers in a Custom Hiring Centre at Borchala village under PoharAgro Producer Company ltd. The closing ceremony of the training was graced by the presence of Dr. Rijusmita Sarma Deka, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Morigaon. Dr. Deka informed the farmers about the provision of hiring the machineries in a very minimal rate from the Custom Hiring Center and advised the farmers to take maximum benefits from the machineries.Sanju Borgohain, Rupam Bania and Robin Hazarika from KVK Morigaon helped in smooth running of the programme, stated a press release.
