Three drug peddlers arrested, brown sugar seized by Doomdooma Police

DOOMDOOMA: Doomdooma Police, led by Inspector Ashim Kumar Bora, apprehended Akash Das Panika from No.10 line of Budlabeta TE on Tuesday night. Police seized 6 gm brown sugar from his possession.
On interrogation, police got a clue about another drug peddler named Gakul Neog whom they arrested on the same day from No. 2 Chelenguri village near Kakapather. They seized 12 gm brown sugar from his house. On further information, police conducted a search operation near Doomdooma river bridge on Wednesday morning and arrested Jairam Gupta from there. From his possession police seized 18 gm brown sugar along with cash Rs 3,550.
A case (No.415/21) has been registered against them and all three of them were sent to jail after being produced before the magistrate at Tinsukia court on Wednesday. A large cache of drugs was recovered about a month back from a house situated in Uchamati area of the town. According to Inspector Bora, illegal drug trade is still going on unabated in this region.
