TINSUKIA: Under the operational guidance of Nilesh T Sawakare, Superintendent of Police of Tinsukia, two operational successes were achieved by Tinsukia district police during the past two days in which three hardcore ULFA (I) militants were apprehended.

On Monday, Dimpal Baruah alias Gudu Asom (24) of Dhemaji surrendered before the SP at Jagun outpost. A pistol and four live ammunitions were recovered from his possession. Two other militants- LNC Tutu Borah alias Handum Asom (25) of Bishnupur, Talap under Doomdooma PS, and Juman Borah (21) of Chinamora Jorhat - were arrested after a hot chase from Jorhat on Tuesday. They were on a mission to perpetrate sabotage on security forces and educational institutions on the occasion of ULFA protest day.
