TINSUKIA: The district administration of Tinsukia at a district-level meeting chaired by Gurnel Singh, ADC and CEO DDMA, reviewed the flood situation of the district with all the line departments, Army and SDRF at the conference hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Tinsukia on Monday.
In the meeting, necessary instructions were given to all the Circle Officers and line departments so that no malfunctioning occurs. The officials were also instructed to execute their roles and responsibilities as per the Assam Disaster Management Manual 201, stated a DIPR press release.
At present four relief camps at Dhelakhat TE LP School, Khamtigowali GP, Bebejia LP School and Purani Motapung Club Ghor are functioning in Tinsukia district. The district administration has provided Gratuity Relief (GR) to the flood-affected people through 17 relief distribution centres. The Circle Officers of Tinsukia, Doomdooma and Sadiya Revenue Circle are looking after the arrangements.
With sufficient food stock is available, an instruction has already been issued to the Food and Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs branch to maintain a buffer food stock for the entire flood season in Tinsukia district. The water level of the six major rivers in Tinsukia district is in falling trend for the last two days.
Under Sadiya subdivision, 10 villages of Amarpur are flooded. However, water has receded. The NDRF team is stationed there for carrying out relief and rescue operation. Relief materials like rice, dal and salt for Amarpur have been provided by the administration. To tackle post-flood situation, officials from PHE have camped there for disinfecting the hand pumps and chlorine tablets are also being distributed.
Dr. Tennyson Doley and Dr. H. Kaman with their teams have already started special medical camp at Amarpur area. One veterinary team from Sadiya has also been stationed at Amarpur, stated Biswajit Phukan, SDO(Civil) Sadiya.
