Tinsukia district administration takes steps to mitigate COVID crisis

In view of alarming spurt of COVID positive cases in Tinsukia district, the district administration has mobilized all its resources to mitigate the crisis.

TINSUKIA: In view of alarming spurt of COVID positive cases in Tinsukia district, the district administration has mobilized all its resources to mitigate the crisis. Though active cases in the district remained static during the past one week, as many as 44 persons have died since April 1 across the district.

On the sidelines of the press meet held by new incumbent Deputy Commissioner PN Sambhaji on Thursday, ADC (Health) Dipu Kumar Deka told media persons that 13 buildings had been identified with bed capacity of 1,020 while some schools and recreation centres had been converted into COVID Care Centre (CCC). This apart, the railway station had been equipped with 180 beds and 36 oxygen units. Deka further informed that 394 oxygen cylinders with 55 oxygen concentrators were presently available. Till now 6 CCCs were functioning with bed capacity of 690 patients, Deka stated, adding that 281 patients were presently being treated in hospitals/CCC and 409 beds were lying vacant.
