GUWAHATI: In yet another drunk lady driver committed a hit and run offence in Assam. On the night of Navami, Thursday, a drunk lady hit another car in Upper Assam, Makum, Tinsukia.

As per reports, the accused lady driver threatened and gave her identity to the driver of the other car as the sister of Union Minister Rameswar Teli and fled the scene.

The victim, who is identified as one Durlabh Gohain, has reportedly, filed a complaint with the police against the drunk lady.

It could be mentioned here that Rajkanya Baruah, a model, did a hit and run offence that created a massive uproar across the state.

Of late she was re-arrested and sent to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, Rajkanya Baruah was again produced before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) after she was arrested in an accident case of October 26, 2017. The court remanded her to judicial custody. She is already under judicial custody in the hit-and-run case of October 1. In this accident case of 2017, Rajkanya had allegedly hit a person with her car. The victim, Karamjyoti Handique, suffered a severe back injury following the accident.

In the latest development in the hit-and-run case of October 1, the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (metro), Biswajit Pegu, warned on Tuesday that luxury hotel Taj Vivanta had seven days time to submit the CCTV camera footage and a guest list of the event that was organized in the hotel on October 1 evening.

If the hotel management failed to submit the details within the stipulated time, "action" will be taken against the hotel, said the Deputy Commissioner. On October 10, Taj Vivanta had been issued a show-cause notice to submit CCTV camera footage and the guest list of the event held on October 1 within three days.

The hotel management had been asked to specify the timings of the event and details about the guests and organizers. The hotel management urged the district administration to give them some more time to submit the details. The management now has been given seven days time. If the response of the management is not "satisfactory", the district administration warned of action against the luxury hotel.
