Voting for 35 constituencies for the Tiwa Autonomous Council underway. Voting began at 7.30AM on Thursday (Dec 17). Voting to continue till 4.30PM. According to the Assam State Election Commission, as many as 410 polling booths have been set up. BJP is contesting in 35 council seats. Its ally party Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) is contesting one seat. Congress is contesting all 36 seats.

Counting of votes will be held on December 19.

6:45 PM: Voting ended for the Tiwa Autonomous Council at 4.30 PM. Voting percentage was recorded at 80%.

4.00 PM: Voter turnout in Tiwa Autonomous Council election stands at 75 per cent till 3-30 pm. Voting is scheduled to close by 4.30 pm.

1:45 PM: Voter turnout in 19 constituencies of Tiwa Autonomous Council election has gone up to 58% till 1.30 PM.

No 32 Digaru constituency – 17,127 voters expected to cast their vote.

No 34 Sonapur constituency – The number of voters is 17, 304

No 35 Ampri constituency – There are at least 7829 voters.

No 36 Aari constituency – 8407 voters expected to vote.

12:15 PM: Voter turnout at 35% till 12noon.

No 14 Gubha constituency declared uncontested.

9:45 AM: Voting underway in parts of Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai and Kamrup (Metro).

Long queues were seen since early morning in the polling booths.

9:30 AM: A total of 124 candidates are in fray and a total of 3,08,409 voters will decide the fate of the candidates in ballot papers.

According to the Assam State Election Commission, as many as 410 polling booths have been set up.
