Train service between Guwahati-Silchar resumes

Haflong: Keeping aside all the speculations, trains resumed plying between Guwahati and Silchar from Friday. Train communication between Guwahati and Silchar was disrupted from May 15 due to heavy damage to railway tracks in many locations due to heavy rain and landslides. The NF Railway authority faced many challenges while restoring the communication.

People of neighbouring states like Tripura and Mizoram, along with south Assam had been suffering a lot due to absence of rail communication between Guwahati and Silchar or Agartala. With the resumption of rail communication between Guwahati-Silchar, a huge population of these areas will be benefitted.

Many passengers of the first Silchar-Guwahati train on Friday opined that the disruption of rail communication had thrown their life out of gear but resumption of rail communication had come as a boon for them.
