BOKO: Transport, Commerce and Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary opened the Boko- Hahim- Mawshynrut Road on Friday.

The road connects areas between Meghalaya and Assam. The stretch from Boko to Hahim on the Assam side is 14.6 kms. The road is being constructed by the 'Saraighat Engineers' and completed under the North East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERDS).

This inter-State road was in poor condition for a decade. Finally people of the area have heaved a sigh of relief after the completion of the Assam portion of the road and the Meghalaya part. Construction work will start very soon from Assam's Hahim to Meghalaya's Mawshynrut.

In the opening ceremony of the road, MP of Guwahati constituency Queen Oja, Boko MLA Nandita Das, Chaygaon MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed, Palashbari MLA Hemanga Choudhury, Tankeswar Rabha, Chief of RHAC took part as special guest. It may be mentioned that the road construction was executed by PWRD South Kamrup Territorial Road Division, Palashbari. On this occasion a meeting was organised by the Public Works (Road) Department (PWRD). In the meeting, Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said that it will develop the area in various sectors. The road will help smooth connectivity between the states, tourism sector, agriculture sector and many others.
