
Miftahul Hussain, an unsung hero to those who knew him, breathed his last on Wednesday, November 24, after a prolonged illness at the age of 76 in Guwahati. He was born in Sibsagar and was a resident of DR SK Bhuyan Road, Digholipukhuri Par, Guwahati. A very simple person to the core who was extremely hardworking and disciplined; was respected and loved for his simplicity, straight forwardness, and intelligence. He was also a great orator who could talk on any subject for hours.
He won several accolades and held many positions in his 30 years of professional life. He was trained in Primavera Project Planner (P3- V3.1) and had extensive experience working as a consultant in the USA, UK, Middle East, and India. He was involved in the development and implementation of a wide range of projects in industries of Nuclear Power Plant, Oil & Gas, Aerospace, and Airport.
An ace debater and quizzer who was an inter-college quiz champion, he was an alumnus of the Cotton Collegiate School, Cotton College, and Assam Engineering College, Guwahati respectively. After a brief stint in the Bokaro Steel plant (Steel Authority of India Limited), he went to the USA to pursue his MBA. He earned his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey (1976) and MS in Information Technology and Communication from the University of Wollongong, Australia (1993). He also completed his PG Diploma in Project Management from Brunel University, England, and has received "Superior Performance" in Program and Project Development and Management (PPDM) from Asian Institute of Management, Philippines.
He leaves behind his wife, Salma Ahmed Hussain (Retd. ACS), his two sons (Marouf and Muddassir), and a host of relatives and friends. Today, on his Chalisa, we pray to Allah to grant him Jannah Tul Firdaus.
