Speeding Truck Hits Roadside Tree, 1 Killed in Udalguri District

TANGLA: In a tragic road mishap, the handyman of a truck lost his life when the speeding truck he was traveling in hit a roadside tree at Nichlamari along the NH-15 under Orang PS in Udalguri district on Monday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Sanjit Das (23). According to police sources, the victim hailed from Adityapara village under Kishanganj PS of Nadia district in West Bengal. The ill-fated truck (AP36TA3989 ) was carrying fish and was way bound from Andhra Pradesh to Assam.

According to statement of locals, the low visibility due to incessant rainfall could have led to the accident. Orang Police later retrieved the body of the victim and have sent it for post mortem to Udalguri Civil Hospital.
