Two-day-long orientation Programme on palliative care organized by ACCF

HOWRAGHAT: A two-day long orientation programme on palliative care was organized by the Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) on Monday at ANM Training Centre, Civil Hospital, Diphu with an aim to sensitize the Community Health Officers (CHC), Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM) and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA). The sensitization programme concluded on Tuesday.

The inaugural programme of the two-day workshop was graced by dignitaries like Khonsing Rongpi, Executive Member i/c Health and Family Planning Department, KAAC, and Sanjeeb Kr Das, Principal Secretary. Dr. Sanghamitra, Lead – Palliative Care from ACCF, emphasized the importance and need of such workshops and how this would help in identifying patients in remote lands. The Health EM, KAAC, Khonsing Rongpi encouraged all the participants to sincerely learn and serve the community at the micro-level and help patients avail of the cancer care facilities that were expected to be operational soon in the region.

Assam Cancer Care Foundation is a Government of Assam and Tata Trusts initiative, established to create a three-tier comprehensive cancer care network and provide accessible and affordable care for the denizens. ACCF has undertaken the cosmic mission of setting up state-of-the-art cancer care facilities across the State of Assam. These facilities are strategically located to ensure everyone has access to the treatment without having to travel too far from their base. The facilities will be digitally enabled by DiNc (Digital Nerve Centre) that has been set up within the premises of State Cancer Institute (SCI) in Guwahati.
