UBPO condoles demise of former MLA Karendra Basumatary

LAKHIMPUR: The United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) expressed deep sorrow at the sudden demise of former MLA Karendra Basumatary, who was the former president of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) and former chairman of BPAC. The organization also extended its sympathy to the bereaved family.

In a condolence note, UBPO central committee president Manuranjan Basumatary and general secretary Pitambar Brahma said, "His achievements and contributions towards the Bodo community will always be cherished. May the Almighty give courage to the bereaved family to come out of this irreparable loss." The organization prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Karendra Basumatary, the former MLA from Mazbat constituency, passed away on October 3 at his residence in the Udalguri district. He was 71. According to report, Basumatary had been battling a chronic disease for a long time. Besides Mazbat, Basumatary was also elected as an MLA from Paneri constituency for a term. He is considered as one of the well-known Bodo leaders amongst the Bodo society.
