TANGLA: A grand mass gathering of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) was organized at Bordoloi Bhawan in Tangla town of Udalguri district on Saturday. The event, organised by the UPPL Bhergaon Youth wing, was graced as chief guest by BTC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro, who asserted that the UPPL model of politics is a simple and people-friendly model, which is an ‘inclusive’ model taking into confidence various communities residing in the Bodo belt. During the mass gathering, more than 1200 new members from different parties and organizations, including BPF, BJP, ARSU, and ABMSU, joined UPPL in the presence of the party president and CEM of Bodoland Territorial Council, Pramod Boro, along with other senior party leaders.
ARSU leader and prominent face, Jayanta Rabha, also joined the UPPL. Boro welcomed and felicitated the newly-joined leaders with the traditional gamosa. He highlighted various people-friendly welfare initiatives by the council government under the present regime, ranging from the digitalisation of land records in the five districts of BTR under Mission Bwismuthi to the launch of the Bodofa Super 50 Mission, aimed at providing civil service coaching to 50 youths every year. He added that several missions and visions have been launched in BTR to bring sustainable development to the region. UPPL Vice-President Bhraman Baglary, addressing the gathering, asserted that youths are the beacon of hope and the future of society who have become ambassadors of change. He lambasted the 17-year regime of the BPF, citing various incidents of communal violence and bloodshed during that period, under which people reeled under fear and insecurity. The event was also addressed by UPPL Youth Wing General Secretary (Administration) Dr. Sangrang Brahma, Bhergaon UPPL President Ringkhang Khaklary, among others.
