Unidentified Corpse recovered from Dhansiri River in Bokajan

Bokajan: The body of an unidentified person was recovered from Dhansiri River by Bokajan Railway Police on Thursday.

The dead body was spotted floating in the river by locals who later reported the matter to the railway police. The body was found stuck to a pole of a railway bridge over the river.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the body was submerged in the river since a couple of days but have surfaced recently. The exact cause of death and identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

In a sensational incident, the body of a man was recovered under mysterious circumstances near Chaboti Railway over the bridge in Lakhimpur on Tuesday morning.

The body, however, was identified as Bakul Gogoi of Sonari village located in Chaboti under Lakhimpur District.

As per family sources of the deceased, Bakul goes missing since last Sunday and didn’t return back home thereafter.

It is to be noted that the body was spotted by a pedestrian floating in a pond nearby Chaboti Railway over the bridge and accordingly informed the matter to the Lilabari police station.

On the other hand, the family members of the deceased claimed it to be a case of murder and demanded a strong investigation.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been sent for post mortem.
