RANGIA: On the basis of specific information received from sources and Assam Police about a growing of extremists of newly formed United Liberation for Bodoland (ULB), Hrishikesh Sharma, Commandant 24th Bn SSB deputed a special intervention squad under the command of Deepak Savita, Deputy Commandant (Ops) and Vikash Sambharia, Assistant Commandant, Party Commander to carry out the search operation. Accordingly, a raid and search operation was conducted by troops of 24th Bn SSB, Rangia jointly with SDPO Tamulpur and Suagpur Police personnel on Saturday at Peplini village under Goreswar Police Station and apprehended three linkmen of ULB namely Durga Boro (40 years), Bhaben Boro (46 years) and Samak Boro (35 years). It may be mentioned that

ULB is newly formed Militant Group in BTR during this month with a view to carry out an armed struggle to continue with the demand of Bodoland and to safeguard the rights and privileges of the Bodo Community. On September 18, an encounter took place in which Assam Police killed two ULB cadres at Lungchhaung under Kokrajhar Police Station and recovered 2 pistols & 8 grenades. Further, the apprehended ULB linkmen were handed over to Police Out Post Suagpur for further investigation and interrogation. An FIR has been registered under section 121(A)/ 153(A)/ 153(B)/ 505(1)(B)/ 34 (IPC) and under section 25 (14) of the Arms Act R/W Sec 66 (F) of I.T Act, R/W Sec 16 UA (P) Act vide case No. 173/21 dated 20.09.2021. Hrishikesh Sharma, Commandant, 24th Bn SSB, Rangia said that this joint operation is a major breakthrough in countering the activities of Militants on Indo- Bhutan border and will act as a strong deterrence for Anti Social elements in future.
