Vaccination-cum-treatment camp for livestock held in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: A complimentary service in the form of vaccination-cum- treatment camp for the betterment of farm animals, was jointly organized by Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science (LCVSc), Assam Agricultural University, Joyhing, North Lakhimpur, Assam and Block Veterinary Dispensary, Naryanpur Revenue Block, North Lakhimpur on Saturday.

Over 600 livestock in and around the area were vaccinated for foot and mouth disease (FMD) in cattle. In addition, treatment for ailing animals and free of cost supplements were also distributed. The camp witnessed 20 students along with specialists in different departments related to Veterinary and Animal Science from the college. Dr. Jyoti Paban Chetia, Block Veterinary Officer, Block Veterinary Dispensary, Narayanpur, along with his staff extended their co-ordination for the smooth conduct of the camp.

The camp started with a public gathering, in which Associate Dean of LCVSc, Dr Uma Ram Tamuli addressed the gathering and informed that the college was regularly organizing training as well as vaccination-cum-treatment camp both in and out of the campus. He also stressed the roles of Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Government of Assam, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and University for the farming community of the State.
