KOKRAJHAR: Veteran Bodo character actor and retired teacher Meghnath Muchahary passed away on Thursday afternoon at around 3 PM at his residence in Kokrajhar town following age-related ailments. He was in his 70s.

Muchahary was a respected figure in Bodo cultural circles and had acted in several Bodo films, including a notable role in ‘Alayaron,’ the first-ever Bodo feature film. He acted brilliantly as Gunjer middleman in the film and was highly praised. A teacher by profession, he retired from Kokrajhar Government Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School. He was also involved in various social activities. Tributes poured in from various quarters, remembering him for his contributions to Bodo cinema, education and social work.
